Human Metapneumovirus infection causes cold-like symptoms. It usually causes upper respiratory tract infection.

Young children, people over 65 years of age or those with a weakened immune system are at higher risk of severe symptoms.

In most people, the infection can cause problems like fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat, wheezing, shortness of breath (dyspnea).
