Indian Railways: 3 trains will run from Katra to Srinagar, know the timings, stoppages and fare details
The dream of going from Katra to Srinagar by train is going to come true. If you are also planning to see the snowy valleys of Srinagar this time in January-February, then just wait for a few more days. Northern Railway has announced three trains for the Katra-Srinagar route. Out of these, one Vande Bharat and two mail/express trains will go to Srinagar. There is no information about when the booking of trains will start, but information about their timings and fares is coming out. Northern Railway has announced the timing of the train for the first time between Katra in Jammu and Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
Two trains in the morning and one in the evening
According to media reports, this route is expected to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is expected that trains can run between Kashmir and Jammu on this route around January 26. According to the information released by Northern Railway, the newly launched Vande Bharat train will depart from Katra (SVDK) at 8:10 am and reach Srinagar Railway Station (SINA) at 11:20 am. Similarly, the mail / express train will leave from Katra (SVDK) at 9:50 am and reach at 1:10 pm. Another mail / express train will leave from Katra at 3 pm and reach Srinagar Railway Station at 6:20 pm.
Journey of more than three hours
Vande Bharat Express running from Katra to Srinagar will run six days a week and it will take three hours and 10 minutes to complete the 203 km journey. Mail / Express trains will take three hours and 20 minutes to complete this journey. On the return journey, Vande Bharat will depart from Srinagar at 12.45 pm and reach Katra at 3.55 pm. After this, a mail/express train will depart at 3.10 pm and reach Katra at around 6.30 pm.
How much will be the fare?
No official announcement has been made regarding the fare and the start of the train. But it is expected that Rs 1500-1600 will have to be paid for AC chair car from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra to Srinagar and Srinagar to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra. Similarly, if you travel by executive chair car, then this fare can increase to between Rs 2200-2500. There will be seven stations on the way between Katra and Srinagar.
Expected to start around 20th January
The train going to Kashmir is expected to be flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi around 20th January. However, no official information has been given about this yet. The biggest challenge on this route was the T-33 tunnel. The water flowing from it was stopped three months ago. The Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail project started in 2005-06 includes many phases. On this route, the train will pass through 38 tunnels and 927 bridges. The total length of the bridges will be about 13 km and the total length of the tunnels will be 119 km.
Which stations
The first train Vande Bharat will be run on the Katra-Srinagar route. Its name will be Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-Srinagar train. On this route, this semi-high speed train will run at a speed of 70 to 75 km per hour. There will be a total of seven stations between the two cities, namely Reasi, Sawalkot, Sangaldan, Ramban, Banihal, Qazigunj and Bijbehara.
