On the last evening of the year 2024, people ordered a lot of things from these delivery apps, which includes everything from condoms to grapes. Swiggy Instamart, BlinkIt, Big Basket and other companies have also shared some data related to this.
Craze for Aloo Bhujia
To ensure that there is no shortage in the party to be held on New Year's Eve, lots of orders were given for chips, coke and namkeen. This information was shared by BlinkIt co-founder Albinder Dhindsa himself.
He told that 2.3 lakh packets of Aloo Bhujia were delivered on this day. The delivery executives delivered 6834 packets of ice cubes to people's homes. These figures are till 8 pm on 31 December.
Albinder also told that many orders for condoms were also received on his app on this day. Out of this, 39 percent of the sales were of chocolate flavor condoms only. Whereas 31 percent of the sales were of strawberry flavor and 19 percent of bubblegum flavor condoms.
On the last day of the year, people also demanded grapes. Albinder expressed surprise at this and said that this is the most high demand product since morning till now. He said that why do people need grapes on the last day.
The reason for the high demand for grapes was told by social media users. People said that eating 12 grapes on New Year's Eve and asking for a wish is an age-old practice.
Interest increased in handcuffs
Swiggy Instamart also released some figures related to this day. According to this, on New Year's Eve, orders for 853 chips were coming every minute at 7:30 pm. People also ordered blindfolds and handcuffs a lot on this day.
The co-founder of Swiggy Instamart said that 119 kg of ice cubes were ordered in one minute at 7:41 pm. This was the biggest order of this evening.
Mocktails and soda sold in large quantities
According to Big Basket, the sale of non-alcoholic drinks on their platform increased by 552 percent. The sale of disposable cups and plates increased by 325 percent. The sale of mocktails and soda also increased by 200 percent.
