A case of FD fraud has come to light in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, which has created a sensation in the area. According to the information, a customer had made an FD (fixed deposit) of Rs 23,000 in a bank in the city in 2001. In such a situation, when he reached the bank a few days ago to break the FD to return the loan taken for his daughter's wedding, the bank officials declared it fake.
The victim has complained about this to the bank officials. According to the information, 40-year-old Jawahar Sahni, a resident of Jamunahiya village in Gorakhpur, had jointly made a fixed deposit of Rs 23,000 in SBI's Padri Bazar in 2001. Jawahar had made an FD for the first time for 84 months.
FD paper told to be fake
Jawahir told that when he went to the bank in February 2008 after the completion of FD, the bank officials said that what will you do by withdrawing the money, put it in auto mode, it will keep getting renewed every year and you can withdraw the money when you need it. In such a situation, Jawahar's daughter's marriage was in December, so he needed money. Due to this, when he went to the bank, the employees told him that the FD paper is fake because the account number and details were not on the FD paper. Hearing this from the bank employees, Jawahar was shocked. In such a situation, when he insisted on the fact that the money was deposited, he was asked to come some other day.
There is no account number in the fixed deposit
Jawahir complained about this to the regional manager office of State Bank on Tuesday. He told in the complaint that his daughter's marriage was on 4 December. He had done the marriage by taking loan from people, so when he reached the bank on 19 December with the FD paper to return the loan for daughter's marriage. When he gave it to the bank counter, he found out that there was no money deposited in it. Jawahar said that he went to the bank again on 26 December, where on enquiring, he found out that no account number was written on the fixed deposit form, due to which the money could not be traced.
