Year Ender 2024: This 250 Crore Budget Film Turned Out to Be a Major Flop, Earning Only This Much

As 2024 comes to a close, it's time to look back at the highs and lows of the year in cinema. While several low-budget films made a big impact at the box office, many big-budget films failed to live up to expectations. One such film is Maidaan, starring Ajay Devgn.

Released on April 11, Maidaan was made with a budget of ₹250 crore and was released in three languages. However, despite the large investment, the film only managed to earn ₹68 crore globally at the box office. The film, based on the real-life story of Coach Syed Abdul Rahim, failed to capture the audience's interest.

Syed Abdul Rahim is credited with creating the golden era of Indian football. Under his leadership, the underdog Indian football team won the gold medal at the 1962 Jakarta Asian Games, which brought the team into the international spotlight. Ajay Devgn's performance in the film was lauded, but it wasn’t enough to draw viewers to the theaters.

This flop at the box office is a stark reminder that even with a compelling story and a star-studded cast, success at the box office can never be guaranteed.
