Year Ender 2024: Rishabh Pant Creates History in IPL Mega Auction, Becomes the Most Expensive Cricketer

Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant will likely never forget the year 2024. After making a successful comeback to international cricket following a car accident, Pant made history at the IPL 2025 mega auction. The Lucknow Super Giants team bought him for a whopping ₹27 crore, making him the most expensive player in IPL history.

Pant was released by the Delhi Capitals ahead of the auction, and this high price tag broke records. In the same auction, Shreyas Iyer was also bought for ₹26.75 crore. With this massive deal, Pant could now be seen leading the Lucknow Super Giants in the upcoming season.

Pant has played 111 IPL matches so far, scoring 3,284 runs for Delhi Capitals with 1 century and 18 half-centuries. He has also scored 1,209 runs in 76 T20 internationals.
