Year-Ender 2024: Government Bans 156 Drugs, Including Paracetamol, This Year

In 2024, India witnessed significant changes, especially in the healthcare sector. The government took a major decision by banning 156 drugs due to their severe side effects. This move was made after the health ministry found these drugs to not meet safety standards.

According to reports, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare banned around 156 medicines this year. These included painkillers, medications for diabetes, and common cold and cough drugs containing phenylephrine. Additionally, high-dose paracetamol medicines and certain drugs used for female infertility were also banned.

The ban is part of the government's efforts to ensure public health safety by removing harmful substances from the market.
