Reports: ICC gave this 24-hour warning to PCB, now Pakistan Board has no choice other than this option
Champions Trophy 2025: Where the Champions Trophy will be held, it will be officially decided on Saturday
New Delhi:
ICC gives warning to PCB: Amidst the hustle and bustle over the hosting of the Champions Trophy for the last few months, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has given a 24-hour warning to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) which is showing a stubborn attitude. On Friday, there was a meeting of 12 member full-time Test playing countries of the ICC to decide the hosting of the mega event, but no conclusion could be reached in it. But the ICC had given three options, but now according to the news coming in, the ICC has given a strict warning to the PCB. The Champions Trophy will be held from 19 February to 9 March.
In the meeting held on Friday, the first option was the hybrid model, in which most of the matches of the mega event will be held in Pakistan, while the matches with India will be held outside Pakistan. At the same time, the second option is to organize the entire tournament in another country, but the hosting rights will remain with Pakistan, while the third option is to organize the Champions Trophy in Pakistan without India. Now on Saturday, there will be a virtual meeting of full-time countries regarding these three aspects, in which the final decision will be officially approved.
Now PCB has no choice!
According to the report, the ICC has warned to accept the hybrid model for the Champions Trophy or be excluded from the tournament. This happened due to the failure to reach a concrete result due to the PCB's persistent stubborn attitude in the meeting held on Friday. In fact, in the meeting held on Friday, the final opinion was to be made regarding the schedule of the mega event in the meeting to be held next year, but despite India's clear refusal to send Team India to Pakistan, the PCB refused to accept the hybrid model. And that is why the matter could not be resolved regarding the schedule. However, now the ICC has clearly explained to the PCB that if it does not accept the hybrid model, then it should be ready to exit the mega event.
