In Hinduism and Vastu Shastra, the kitchen is considered the most sacred place in the house. The kitchen is not just a place for cooking; it is the place from which the health and good fortune of the entire family are connected. According to ancient beliefs, Goddess Annapurna resides in the kitchen. Certain Vastu rules state that there are three things in the kitchen whose containers should never be empty. If these items run out completely, it not only brings negativity but also hinders prosperity.

1. Turmeric
The turmeric container in the kitchen should never be empty. From an astrological perspective, turmeric is associated with Jupiter (Guru). The planet Jupiter is considered the benefactor of respect, wealth, and happiness from children in our lives.
When turmeric runs out completely in the kitchen, it is considered a sign of Guru Dosha (a negative influence of Jupiter). This can lead to obstacles in auspicious endeavors and weaken the fortune of family members. According to Vastu Shastra, running out of turmeric means you are jeopardizing your prosperity.
2. Salt
Food is tasteless without salt, and according to Vastu, the kitchen is incomplete without salt. Salt is believed to mitigate the negative effects of Rahu and Ketu.
According to old beliefs, if the salt container becomes completely empty, it increases Vastu defects in the house. This can lead to discord and mental stress among family members. It is also said that one should never borrow salt from someone else's house, nor should one allow the salt in their own house to run out completely. A shortage of salt indicates financial difficulties in the house.
3. Rice
Rice is called 'Akshat,' which means that which never ends. It is associated with the planets Venus and the Moon. Venus symbolizes material comforts, luxury, and love in our lives.
The complete depletion of rice in the kitchen pantry invites the inauspicious influence of Venus. This can disrupt peace and harmony in the house and lead to a decrease in accumulated wealth. To maintain the blessings of Goddess Annapurna, it is important to refill the rice container before it becomes empty.
