It has been six years since Irrfan Khan passed away. April 29th marked Irrfan Khan's sixth death anniversary. On this occasion, a film featuring the actor—made 26 years ago—was finally released, becoming, in a poignant twist, the actor's final film. Filming for *The Last Tenant*, starring Irrfan Khan and Vidya Balan, was completed back in the year 2000. For the past 26 years, this film has been waiting to reach its audience, and now, it has finally found a platform.

On the actor's sixth death anniversary, the filmmakers released his movie, *The Last Tenant*, on YouTube. The film is currently streaming for free. The story of this film was written by Sarthak Dasgupta, who also directed it. The actor shot this 43-minute short film during the early stages of his career. In it, Vidya Balan appeared opposite the actor.
Vidya Balan and Irrfan Khan's Film Has Been Released
At the time, Vidya Balan was famous for her television serial, *Hum Paanch*. Back then, the actress was working on the small screen and was striving to establish a foothold in the film industry. Consequently, *The Last Tenant* presented a special opportunity for her. On the film's YouTube page, director Sarthak Dasgupta wrote that some films do not get lost; they simply wait for the right moment to reach their audience.
Filmmakers Get Emotional
He further writes, "In the year 2000, there was no budget, nor were there any big stars—just a young filmmaker who wanted to tell a good story through his film. We created a magical film with two magnificent artists. Those two magnificent artists are Vidya Balan and Irrfan Khan. The footage was lost, but the memories of them remain alive in our hearts to this day."

Following the film's release, an emotional Vidya Balan remarked, "Seeing *The Last Tenant* finally reach its audience feels like a dream. At that time, I was just starting my career and trying to carve out a niche for myself." "Working with Irrfan was incredibly special back then, and it is even more so now, as this was the only opportunity I had to share the screen with him."
The actress further added, "This film serves as a beautiful memory for me of the journey where it all began, and I am happy that it is being shared as a tribute to Irrfan."
