The Indian cricket team, as expected, played brilliantly in the ICC Champions Trophy and won the title. The team led by Rohit Sharma became the champion by defeating New Zealand in the final. India won the ICC trophy for the first time in 1983 when an underdog team won the World Cup by defeating the dreaded West Indies. One of the most iconic players of that team was the great Sunil Gavaskar. He has selected his all-time India ODI playing XI.

Speaking with India Today, Sunil Gavaskar announced his all-time XI. Mahendra Singh Dhoni was made the captain of the team. He chose the pair of Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma to open the innings in his XI. Tendulkar is at the top in ODI cricket with 18,436 runs while Rohit has also scored more than 11,000 ODI runs. He has three double centuries in this format. Gavaskar chose Virat Kohli to bat at number three.
All-rounder Mohinder Amarnath, who was adjudged Player of the Match in the semi-final and final of the 1983 World Cup, has been given a place at number 4. Yuvraj Singh, Player of the Tournament of the 2011 ODI World Cup, has been chosen to bat at the fifth position. Both Amarnath and Yuvraj can also bowl if needed.
Sunil Gavaskar has named a strong bowling lineup in his all-time India ODI playing XI. He has chosen Kapil Dev, Mohammed Shami, and Zaheer Khan as the fast-bowling trio. Kapil will also be a great option in the lower order. While Jasprit Bumrah has not got a place in Gavaskar's team. Ravindra Jadeja and Harbhajan Singh have been given place as two spinners in Sunil Gavaskar's all-time ODI playing XI.
