Banke Bihari Charan Darshan: Akshaya Tritiya is considered to be a very auspicious and virtuous date in Hinduism, which falls on Shukla Tritiya of Vaishakh month every year. This day has special significance as this date is considered to be very good for the beginning of any auspicious work. Gold shopping, housewarming, marriage, and religious rituals can be done on this day without looking at the Muhurta, as this date gives never-ending virtuous results.

But the importance of this day is not limited to its religious aspect only. An extremely rare and miraculous sight is seen on the day of Akshaya Tritiya at the Banke Bihari Ji temple in Vrindavan. On this day, devotees get to see the feet of the Lord only once. On the rest of the days, Thakur ji's feet are covered with clothes. This tradition is associated with the devotion of Swami Haridas ji, who received wealth from the feet of the Lord. By seeing the darshan on this day, devotees not only get a sense of divinity but their wishes are also fulfilled.
Tradition associated with the devotion of Swami Haridas Ji
The tradition of Charan Darshan on the day of Akshaya Tritiya in the temple of Banke Bihari Ji in Vrindavan is associated with a very old and emotional story. This tradition originated from the devotion of Swami Haridas Ji, who was an ardent devotee of Lord Shri Krishna. Swami Haridas Ji's life was filled with the service, devotion, and love of God. His bhajans and music spread a deep stream of Krishna devotion not only in Vrindavan but all over India.
Once Swami Ji needed some money to serve God. He humbly prayed to the Lord and that very night in his meditation a gold coin appeared near the feet of the Lord. Seeing this, Swami Ji experienced complete devotion and surrender at the feet of God. This experience became a turning point in his life, and from then on he believed that not only is there divinity at the feet of God, but all material and spiritual happiness is obtained from there.
After the devotion of Swami Haridas Ji, the belief spread that whenever the devotees needed money for service or enjoyment, they used to receive gold coins from the feet of the Lord. This incident gave a special significance to the feet of the Lord and also gave birth to the tradition that the feet of the Lord will appear only on the day of Akshaya Tritiya so that the lives of the devotees can be filled with invaluable blessings and virtue.
Charan Darshan on Akshaya Tritiya
Every year, lakhs of devotees gather in Vrindavan on the day of Akshaya Tritiya, hoping to have a darshan of the feet of the Lord. On this day, the curtain of the feet of Thakur Shri Banke Bihari Ji is removed and the devotees see his divine feet for only a few moments. This darshan is no less than a divine grace for the devotees as they believe that by having darshan on this day, all the sorrows of their life are removed and their wishes are fulfilled.

The spiritual significance of Akshaya Tritiya
The spiritual significance of Akshaya Tritiya is also very deep. It is associated with the beginning of Treta Yuga, Parashuram Jayanti, Ganga Avtaran, and holy deeds like Annadaan. This is the reason why this day is considered extremely auspicious for charity and religious deeds. Whoever worships the feet of God with a true heart on this day, gets Akshaya Phal, which never ends.
