After India lost the home Test series against New Zealand and the five-match Test series on the Australia tour, the BCCI formulated 10 policies. According to media reports, those rules have now been implemented in the England series. Not only the players, but coach Gautam Gambhir has suffered due to this. The BCCI had formulated some strict rules after reports of discord in the team came to light. These were named BCCI's 10 policies. In this, rules were made from staying with the family to the players traveling together.

New instructions from BCCI
According to the new rules of BCCI, the personal assistant or manager of the support staff is no longer allowed to travel with the senior players in the team bus. Nor are they allowed to accompany the players or support staff to the same hotel. His assistant, who always stayed with Indian coach K Gambhir during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, had to face the strictness of BCCI after the tour. The board does not want this to happen during the Champions Trophy in Dubai. It has been reported that Gambhir's PA (personal assistant) is now staying in another hotel instead of the same hotel. This has been seen during the series between England and India.
'Personal assistant staying in another hotel'
News agency PTI had reported that 'the personal secretary of a member of the coaching staff, who was regularly seen staying in the team hotel, has now been seen staying in a different hotel. However, he has been seen at every location during the home series against England.' Gambhir was the only coaching staff during the Australia tour who had a personal assistant. The coach can no longer have the same setup, as the board has officially implemented its new rule.
BCCI officials had complained
An irate BCCI official told news agency PTI after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, 'Why was his assistant sitting in the car designated for the national selectors? They cannot even discuss things privately with an unknown third person in the car. Why were they given a place in the BCCI hospitality box in Adelaide?'
BCCI wants to stop news from leaking
Leaks from the Indian dressing room have become quite common in the last few months. There were reports of news 'leaking' during the Australia tour as well. It seems that the board is trying to minimize such 'leaks' by not allowing any unauthorized access. "How did that personal assistant have breakfast in the cordoned-off area of that five-star hotel which is designated for team members only?" the BCCI official said.
BCCI strictly enforces 10 rules
According to the BCCI's diktat, players will not be allowed to accompany their family members, wives or partners during the Champions Trophy. In case of any exception, the player will have to bear the cost of the family's travel himself. Such measures were apparently not in place before. The board has also banned personal chefs, hair stylists and players' agents.
