It is said that one must do the Char Dham Yatra once in life to attain virtuous fruits. On this journey, Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri Dham are visited. Today we are going to tell you the importance of Char Dham Yatra of Uttarakhand.

When will the journey start
The Char Dham Yatra is going to start on 30 April 2025. On this day, devotees will be able to visit Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham. At the same time, the doors of Badrinath will open on 04 May 2025. The opening of the doors of Kedarnath Dham will be announced on the occasion of Mahashivratri i.e. on 26 February 2025.
Significance of Char Dham Yatra
It is described in the scriptures that by doing the Char Dham Yatra, all the sins of a person are destroyed. With this, the person is freed from the cycle of birth and death, which means that the person does not have to be born again in the mortal world and he attains salvation. Also, this journey helps in the spiritual development of a person.
Yamunotri
Yamunotri is located in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, which is the first stop of the Char Dham Yatra. Yamuna River is considered to be one of the holiest rivers of India. Yamuna is also considered to be the daughter of Lord Surya and the sister of Yam Dev. The main attraction of this holy place is the temple dedicated to Goddess Yamuna and the sacred thermal spring at Janakichatti.
Gangotri
Gangotri is the origin of the Ganges River, which originates from the Gangotri glacier in Garhwal, Uttarakhand. Ganga is also called the pilgrimage of Kalyug. Gangotri is the second stop of the Char Dham Yatra. It is believed that by visiting Gangotri Dham during the journey, all the sins of the seeker are destroyed. A very beautiful Ganga temple is also established here.
Kedarnath
Kedarnath temple is located in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. According to mythology, this temple was built by the Pandavas. The form of the temple that we see at present was built by Adi Guru Shankaracharya in the 8th and 9th centuries.
It is believed about this temple that Mahadev, the God of Gods, rests here. At the same time, it is described in Shivpuran that at this place, Nar-Narayan, the incarnation of Lord Vishnu, used to worship Lord Shiva daily by making Parthiv Shivling, then Shiva gave him a boon that he would sit there.

Badrinath
Badrinath Dham, one of the four Dhams located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, is mainly dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is also known as Badrinarayan Temple. It is believed about this place that Lord Vishnu rested at this place for 6 months. This temple was established by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century.
