At this year's Oscars (2026), tributes were paid to numerous legendary late actors who were shining stars of the film world. However, fans were deeply disappointed that the renowned Indian cinema actor Dharmendra was not remembered on the Oscar stage. This was particularly notable given that the names of many Hollywood actors were included in the list.

The Late Actor Dharmendra Was Not Included
Every year, the Oscar stage serves as a platform to honor and remember great artists from across the globe. In keeping with this tradition, fans were eagerly awaiting a tribute to the famous Bollywood actor Dharmendra, alongside his Hollywood counterparts. However, no such tribute took place at the Oscars. In its 'In Memoriam' segment, the Academy failed to remember any artist from Bollywood.
Many Hollywood Personalities Were Remembered
The 98th Oscars ceremony paid tribute to several renowned late personalities from Hollywood. The segment opened with Billy Crystal remembering his late friend, Rob Reiner. Continuing the 'In Memoriam' segment, tributes were paid to artists associated with films such as This Is Spinal Tap, A Few Good Men, and Misery.
Subsequently, Rachel McAdams honored Catherine O'Hara, fondly remembering her as a "force of nature." Additionally, Diane Keaton was remembered for her diverse and distinctive roles.

Previous Tributes to Bollywood Stars
For several years now, the Oscars have consistently remembered Bollywood artists on their stage. In the past, the Academy had included actors such as Nitin Chandrakant Desai, Irrfan Khan, Bhanu Athaiya, Sridevi, and Shashi Kapoor in its 'In Memoriam' segment. This precedent led Dharmendra's fans to anticipate that his name would also be mentioned. Consequently, his omission from the tribute left his fans feeling profoundly disappointed.
