‘Don 3 Will Not Be Shelved’: Farhan Akhtar’s Major Statement Amidst Controversy Surrounding Ranveer Singh..

Producer-director and actor Farhan Akhtar’s *Don 3* has been consistently making headlines for quite some time now. *Don 3*, which is being directed by Farhan Akhtar, has found itself embroiled in controversy regarding its casting. Following the initial decision to cast Ranveer Singh in the film—and his subsequent exit—Farhan’s production house has now reportedly filed a claim for damages against Ranveer.

The matter has even reached the Producers Guild of India. However, despite all this, Farhan Akhtar maintains that the film has not been shelved and that it is a story he is determined to bring to life. Farhan also spoke about the lessons he has learned throughout this entire controversy.

**‘Don 3’ Is an Important Film for Me**
In a conversation with *The Hollywood Reporter India*, Farhan Akhtar acknowledged that the past few years have been particularly challenging. He stated that he has now learned to expect the unexpected; until a film is actually made, nothing can be considered a certainty. Describing *Don 3* as a significant project, Farhan affirmed that the film will not be abandoned. "It is one of those fantastic stories that I now wish to bring to the screen. Creatively, it is a very important film for me."

**Controversy Erupts Over Ranveer’s Sudden Exit**
Farhan Akhtar had announced *Don 3* in 2023. This iteration featured Ranveer Singh stepping in as the lead actor, taking over from Shah Rukh Khan. At the time of casting Ranveer, Farhan had hailed it as the dawn of a new era.

However, controversy surrounding the film began when Ranveer Singh decided to opt out. Farhan Akhtar’s production banner, Excel Entertainment, has reportedly approached the Producers Guild of India, claiming that Ranveer’s last-minute withdrawal from the project resulted in a financial loss of approximately ₹40 crore. The filmmakers have also demanded compensation from Ranveer.

Ranveer Claims: Makers Wanted to Cast Hrithik in the Film
According to reports, Ranveer Singh claimed that he opted out of the project because he was not satisfied with the script. Subsequently, he also alleged that Farhan Akhtar had initially intended to cast Hrithik Roshan in the film, but the success of *Dhruvandhar* led him to change his plans. However, Hrithik Roshan has refuted these claims. He maintains that he was never even approached for *Don 3*.

*Don 2* Released in 2011; Shah Rukh Played the Lead Role
In 2006, Farhan Akhtar remade Amitabh Bachchan's 1978 cult-classic film, *Don*. In this adaptation, Shah Rukh Khan appeared in the titular role of 'Don.' Five years later, in 2011, Farhan released the sequel, *Don 2*, in which Shah Rukh Khan once again starred in the lead role.

Priyanka Chopra played a pivotal role alongside him in both films. Both movies were also directed by Farhan Akhtar. Currently, amidst these controversies, audiences remain eagerly awaiting *Don 3*. Now, it remains to be seen—should the project move forward—which actor will ultimately be seen portraying the character of 'Don.'
