Ajanta Caves
Ajanta Caves are located in Maharashtra. It is associated with Buddhism, which has 30 caves. UNESCO has declared Ajanta Caves as a World Heritage Site. Here amazing murals and sculptures are seen on the walls which depict the life events of Lord Buddha.
Ellora Caves
Ellora Caves is also in the state of Maharashtra, which is a wonderful example of mixed art of Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain religions. These caves are famous for their complex structure and amazing architecture. There are a total of 34 caves in Ellora Caves where grand sculpture and architecture can be seen. The Kailash temple located here is the most famous, which is made by cutting a single stone.
Elephanta Caves
Elephanta caves are located about 10 km from the Gateway of India in Mumbai city of Maharashtra, which is a favorite place of history lovers. One can go here by ferry from the Gateway of India. There are a total of seven caves here which have been made by cutting the hills. There are sculptures based on the life events of Lord Shiva. It is very spectacular and a major center of attraction for tourists. UNESCO has included the Elephanta Caves in the list of World Heritage Sites.
Borra Caves
Borra caves are located in the Arabali hills near Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. These caves are made of natural limestone. Natural stalactite-stalagmite structures are seen in these thousands of years old caves. This place is a paradise for adventure and nature lovers.
Udayagiri and Khandagiri Caves
Udayagiri and Khandagiri caves are located near the city of Bhubaneswar in Odisha. It was earlier known as Cuttack Caves. These are partly natural and partly artificial caves. There are 15 amazing and mysterious caves here which are said to be related to Jainism. It is said that these caves were used during the reign of King Khavel. They have ancient inscriptions, statues of Jain ascetics, and amazing architecture. The most important cave among these famous caves of Bhubaneswar is named Anant Cave. Women, athletes, and elephants are depicted in this cave.

Amarnath Cave
The Amarnath cave located in northern India is world famous. This cave is a religiously important place, where one can see a Shivling made of natural ice. Every year thousands of devotees go on Amarnath Yatra.
