Gold and Silver Prices: Gold loses its sheen while silver shines brighter; is this the right time to buy?

Gold and silver prices have been witnessing continuous fluctuations. Amidst this recent dip, however, the US-based investment bank Jefferies has made a prediction that might leave you stunned. Jefferies estimates that gold could cross the $10,000 per ounce mark by 2027; in terms of Indian currency, this translates to exceeding ₹3 lakh per 10 grams. Meanwhile, on Wednesday, September 23, the global market saw a decline in gold prices, whereas silver staged a recovery.

While gold prices saw a decline in the international market (specifically on Comex), silver prices witnessed a surge. According to Comex data available at the time of writing, gold fell marginally by 0.05%, reaching $4,374.10 per ounce. Conversely, silver prices rose by 0.74%, trading at $67.025 per ounce.

**Did prices rise or fall in the domestic market?**
In the domestic bullion market, too, a slight dip was observed in gold prices, while silver prices saw an upward trend. On the MCX, gold was seen trading at around ₹1.52 lakh per 10 grams following a decline, while silver prices rose to trade around ₹2.40 lakh per kilogram.

**Where does gold stand on the MCX?**
Regarding the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold for October delivery fell by ₹70 by the time of writing, trading at ₹1,52,680 per 10 grams. Meanwhile, silver prices climbed by ₹900, reaching ₹2,40,576 per kilogram. Latest rates in the bullion market: 24-carat gold is trading at around ₹1,53,310 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold remains at approximately ₹1,40,249 per 10 grams. Meanwhile, 18-carat gold is trending near ₹1,14,568 per 10 grams. Silver prices in India were seen trading at approximately ₹2,40,640 per kilogram.
