Despite the brilliant bowling of Indian team spinner Varun Chakraborty, India had to face defeat in the third T20 match played against England in Rajkot. Varun believes that the Rajkot pitch had slowed down in the second innings. It was believed that high scores would be seen in the match, but the batting of both the teams was not good.
Rashid performed better for England
England, however, performed well against India. At one time the team's score was 127 runs for eight wickets and it scored 171 runs for nine wickets in 20 overs. The Indian team failed to achieve the target and fell behind by 26 runs. England leg-spinner Adil Rashid performed brilliantly in the middle overs which made a difference in the end.
Varun said, I think the dew changed things, but the pitch was quite slow which benefited England. You see that the pitch was not very slow in the first innings, which benefited them. Obviously Adil Rashid is a legend and he knows how to bowl. He has control over his pace. I am not complaining about anything because this is the nature of the game. There have been times when I have not taken five wickets and we have to face defeat.
It is known that this is the second time Varun has taken five wickets in a T20 match and the team has to face defeat. Varun said, my job is just to focus on what I am doing. How I am performing for the team is the only thing in my control.
Varun supported Bishnoi
Varun also defended leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi who conceded 46 runs in four overs. Varun said, Bishnoi is a top-level bowler. In the last match, I gave 38 runs. So it is just a matter of one match and anyone can prove to be expensive. No one should be judged by one match. I can give it in writing that he will return in the next match.
