England lost its fourth consecutive match after ODI World Cup 2023
With the win in the second ODI, India has won the seventh consecutive ODI series at home over England. Apart from this, this is England's fourth consecutive defeat in ODIs since the World Cup 2023. At the same time, this is England's ninth defeat out of 10 matches in the white ball format against India in the last 10 years. England has faced defeat for the 28th time after scoring 300+. This team has scored more than 300 in ODIs 99 times.
136-run partnership between Rohit and Gill
The Indian team, which came out to chase the target, had a great start. There was a 136-run partnership for the first wicket between Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, which was broken by Jamie Overton. He bowled the young batsman Gill in the 17th over. The 25-year-old batsman returned to the pavilion after playing an innings of 60 runs in 52 balls. He scored a half-century for the second consecutive match. Gill completed the 15th fifty of his ODI career in 45 balls.
Hitman returns to form.
Virat Kohli, who came to bat at number three, was once again out on a ball going outside the off stump. Adil Rashid made him his victim. He could score only five runs. After this Shreyas Iyer took over the charge. He shared a 70-ball partnership with Hitman for the third wicket. During this, the Indian captain scored his 32nd century in 76 balls. He returned to the pavilion after playing a brilliant innings of 119 runs with the help of 12 fours and seven sixes in 90 balls. He was caught by Adil Rashid in the 30th over of the innings by Liam Livingstone.
Against England, Shreyas Iyer scored 44, Hardik Pandya scored 10, Axar Patel scored 41* and Ravindra Jadeja scored 11*. Jamie Overton took two wickets for England while Gus Atkinson, Adil Rashid, and Liam Livingstone got one wicket each.
Salt and Duckett got a good start.
Phil Salt and Ben Duckett gave England a good start by batting first with a half-century partnership. Duckett scored 65 runs, while Joe Root, who has been struggling for form in ODIs for some time, played an innings of 69 runs.
Apart from Root and Duckett, Liam Livingstone scored 41 runs in 32 balls, which helped the team to set a challenging score. Initially, England batsmen troubled the Indian bowlers a lot, but in the end their wickets kept falling, due to which India was able to curb the run rate. However, despite this, the England team managed to cross the 300-run mark.

Jadeja wreaked havoc
For England, Salt scored 26 runs, Harry Brook scored 31 runs, captain Jos Buttler scored 34, Adil Rashid scored 14, Jamie Overton scored six and Gus Atkinson scored three runs. Apart from Jadeja (03), Mohammed Shami, Harshit Rana, Hardik Pandya, and debutant Varun Chakraborty got one wicket each for India.
