India won the title by defeating New Zealand by six wickets in the final of the Champions Trophy 2025. This is India's second consecutive ICC tournament title. Earlier in 2024, Team India won the T20 World Cup. Winning the toss and batting first, New Zealand scored 251 runs in 50 overs for the loss of seven wickets. In reply, India achieved the target in 49 overs for losing six wickets. Rohit played a captaincy innings. He took India out of trouble by scoring 76 runs. This is India's seventh ICC trophy.

Earlier, the team won the 1983 and 2011 ODI World Cup, the 2007 and 2024 T20 World Cup, and the 2002, 2013, and 2025 Champions Trophy. India remained unbeaten throughout this tournament. It won five consecutive matches. After defeating Bangladesh, Pakistan, and New Zealand in the group stage, it beat Australia in the semi-finals and the Kiwis again in the final.
New Zealand's innings
New Zealand had set a target of 252 runs for India in the final Champions Trophy 2025. After winning the toss and batting first, the Kiwi team could score 251 runs in 50 overs by losing seven wickets. 50 runs were scored in the last five overs, due to which New Zealand could touch this figure. Michael Bracewell made the biggest contribution to this. He scored the first half-century of his ODI career. Bracewell played an unbeaten innings of 53 runs with the help of three fours and two sixes in 40 balls. Apart from this, Daryl Mitchell scored 63 runs and Glenn Phillips scored 34 runs. Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakraborty took two wickets each for India. At the same time, Jadeja got one wicket. Shami took one wicket and one player was run out.
The Kiwis had a good start. There was a 57-run partnership between Will Young and Rachin Ravindra. Varun Chakraborty gave the first blow to the Kiwis by dismissing Young. After this Kuldeep's amazing performance was seen. He sent Rachin Ravindra and Kane Williamson to the pavilion. Both these batsmen have been the backbone of New Zealand. As soon as the wickets of these two fell, the Kiwis became weak. Where at one time the Kiwis were scoring at a run rate of more than six. As soon as the first three wickets were lost within 18 runs, the run rate came close to four and a half. Young was dismissed after scoring 15 runs. Williamson could score only 11 runs. After this, Daryl Mitchell tried to handle the innings with Tom Latham and Glenn Phillips. Mitchell shared a 33-run partnership with Latham and a 57-run partnership with Phillips. Latham was sent to the pavilion by Jadeja and Phillips was sent to the pavilion by Varun. Latham could score 14 runs and Phillips could score 34 runs. Meanwhile, Daryl Mitchell scored the eighth half-century of his ODI career. He was dismissed after scoring 63 runs with the help of three fours in 101 balls. In the end, Bracewell batted aggressively. Santner was run out after scoring eight runs.
India's innings
Chasing the target of 252 runs, Team India had a great start. Rohit showed intent and played a quick innings from the beginning. He shared a 105-run partnership for the first wicket with Shubman Gill. Gill was dismissed after scoring 31 runs in 50 balls. After this, Virat Kohli also got out after scoring one run. India lost two wickets within one run. Rohit completed his 58th half-century of his ODI career in 41 balls. He was dismissed after scoring 76 runs in 83 balls with the help of seven fours and three sixes. After two wickets fell, he was stumped off Rachin Ravindra's ball in an attempt to increase the run rate.

After this, Shreyas Iyer shared a 61-run partnership with Axar Patel. Shreyas missed the half-century and returned to the pavilion after scoring 48 runs in 62 balls with the help of two fours and two sixes. Akshar Patel was out after scoring 29 runs and Hardik Pandya after scoring 18 runs. KL Rahul scored 34 runs in 33 balls with the help of one four and one six and Ravindra Jadeja remained unbeaten after scoring nine runs. Jadeja hit the winning four. For New Zealand, Mitchell Santner and Bracewell took two wickets each, while Jamieson and Rachin got one wicket each.
