Many times, after keeping the phone at home, parents get busy with their work and children start using the phone as soon as they get a chance. The craze of Reels on Instagram is increasing so much that from children to youth, everyone is crazy about reels. Keeping in mind the online safety of young children, Instagram Teen Accounts has now been launched.

The purpose of bringing this feature is not only to prevent children from unwanted interactions but with the arrival of this feature, children will also not see videos like violent and pornographic content on the platform.
Why are restrictions necessary for children?
The Government of India had mentioned some time ago in the Digital Personal Data Protection Act that minor children would need parental permission to create a social media account. Meta has now taken steps in this direction and worked to strengthen the safety of young children on Instagram.
Teenagers spend a lot of time on social media, due to which they can easily fall prey to pornographic content, cyberbullying, and privacy-related risks. This is the reason why the government and parents were all worried about it.
Parents will get these facilities.
On Instagram, parents will also get such tools in teen accounts with the help of which they will be able to monitor their child's Instagram activity. The purpose behind bringing this feature on Instagram is to give more control to parents and maintain the online safety of teenagers.
Chats Insight: If your child also has a teen account, then you will be able to see who your child is talking to on Instagram.
Time Limit: You will be able to set a daily screen time limit in your child's account so that children using teen accounts will start getting reminders to close the Instagram app after spending 60 minutes.
Approve Permission: If children under the age of 16 want to change the safety settings of the account, then they will have to get permission from their parents. Only parents will be able to change the safety settings.
How is Teen Account different?
Sleep mode feature has been given in the teen account which will be on from 10 pm to 7 am and Instagram notifications will be muted during sleep mode. Along with this, the auto-reply feature for messages will also be on. Sensitive content will not be visible in search results, feeds and reels in the teen account, apart from this only those people will be able to tag and mention the children whom they follow.
When children between 13 and 17 years of age create a new Instagram account, the account will be a private account by default. On one hand, children below 16 years of age will need parental permission to make the account public, while on the other hand, children between 16 and 17 years of age will be able to make the account public without permission.
