Yash Raj Films has now addressed these rumors and released an official statement. According to a report in Variety India, Yash Raj Films' official statement read, "The news of 'Alpha' going straight to stream is just a rumor, intended to portray a female-centric film in a negative light. Yash Raj Films will never release its theatrical films directly on OTT platforms. We pride ourselves on delivering a cinematic experience. 'Alpha' is a tentpole film for us." Alia Bhatt, one of the country's finest actresses, leads this film, along with the brilliant young actress Sharvari. We hope audiences will love this film as much as they have loved other action films.

What were the rumors?
Reports quoting sources claimed that Yash Raj Films had negotiated a major deal worth ₹215 crore with Netflix to release "Alpha" directly on digital. However, the production house completely denied these reports and reiterated that the film will be released theatrically first.

When will the film be released?
"Alpha" was originally scheduled for release in December 2025, but was later postponed to April 17, 2026. It was reported that this decision was made to complete the remaining work on the film's visual effects. The film is being directed by Shiv Rawail. The film was first teased in the post-credits scene of 'War 2', where Bobby Deol made a cameo.
