Don’t give milkshakes to infants: In summer, people often make mango shakes at home. Not only this, but some people also drink a banana shakes, almond shakes or strawberry shakes. In such a situation, if there is a small child at home, parents also make him taste the milkshake. But if the child is less than 1 year old, then doing this can prove to be costly. They should not be given milkshakes even by mistake.

Milkshakes do not contain nutrients.

Dr. Poonam Sidana, Director of the Neonatology and Pediatrics Department at CK Birla Hospital, Delhi, says that it is not right to feed any kind of milkshake to a child less than 1 year old. It contains sugar as well as many types of syrups and preservatives or creams. This harms the child's health. A milkshake replaces the child's food and he does not get nutrients like protein, and carbohydrates. On the other hand, if you start feeding things like this to the child early, then he will start avoiding healthy food.

Cause of dental problems

Baby's teeth start coming out after 6 months. In such a situation, if he is given a milkshake, dental problems can start. Breast milk or formula milk contains 7 grams of sugar in 100ml, but its quantity in a milkshake is excessive, due to which the child's teeth can rot.

Diarrhea can occur

Milkshake is not a healthy drink for the child because it has neither vitamins nor electrolytes. Drinking it can spoil the digestive system of the child. The child can even get diarrhea. In such a situation, the child may have to be taken to the hospital. Sometimes the child can also get allergies by drinking this drink. A child younger than 1 year should never be given sugar or salty things even by mistake.

What to feed a child up to 12 months

Breast milk is the best for the nutrition and development of the child. It also builds the immunity of the child. But after 6 months, the child can be given lentil water, water, or curd. Instead of milkshakes, fruits like banana, and mango can be mashed well and given with curd. Curd should also be bland and not flavored. Daliya, rice, or lentils should also not contain salt.
