How to wean your baby from breastfeeding: Weaning a child from breastfeeding is not just about changing their diet; it's a major milestone in their development. Mother's milk is like nectar for a young child's health, but after a certain age, it's equally important to introduce solid foods and gradually reduce breastfeeding. Sometimes mothers try to wean their babies abruptly, which can be a big mistake. This can make the child irritable and feel insecure. So, if you also want to wean your child from breastfeeding, this news is for you. Today, we are going to tell you an easy method that will help your child gradually stop breastfeeding on their own. Senior gynecologist Dr. Shefali Dadhich shared this information in a video on her Instagram handle.

The breastfeeding habit won't break easily.
Dr. Shefali explains that just as it's difficult to get children used to breastfeeding, it's equally difficult to break this habit. This is because breastfeeding provides the child not only with milk but also with the mother's love, security, and emotional connection. This is why children take time to give up this habit.
Using bitter substances
Many mothers use bitter substances like nail polish, salt, bitter gourd juice, or neem leaves to wean their children from breastfeeding, which can be a mistake. Doing this does not help in weaning the child from breastfeeding.
Breastfeeding won't stop in a single day
Dr. Shefali explains that many parents try to make their children sleep separately to wean them from breastfeeding and think that the habit will break in a single day. But this method is wrong, as it can make the child even more irritable and uncomfortable.
How to wean your child from breastfeeding?
According to the gynecologist, to wean your child from breastfeeding, take the support of your family and husband. Start making your child sleep separately gradually. To do this, first have the baby sleep separately from you for a few hours, so that they break the habit of being close to you. The doctor explains that sometimes a baby breastfeeds out of habit, not because they are hungry. Therefore, it is very important to break this habit.
How long does it take to break the breastfeeding habit?
Dr. Shefali says that the baby won't break this habit in one, two, or four days. It can take approximately 15-20 days to a month. Remember to gradually wean the baby off breastfeeding, because if you stop suddenly, the baby will cry a lot, become irritable, and instead of stopping, may start breastfeeding even more.
