Sawan 2026: When does Sawan begin and end? Find out how many 'Somwaris' (Mondays) there are this time..

The long wait for devotees of Lord Shiva is about to end. This year, the holy month of Sawan begins on Thursday, July 30, 2026, coinciding with the *Pratipada Tithi* (first day) of the *Shravan Krishna Paksha* (waning phase of the moon). This sacred month will conclude on August 28, 2026, on the occasion of *Shravan Purnima* (full moon day). The entire month is considered extremely special for worshipping Lord Shiva. According to the Hindu calendar, it is the second month of *Chaturmas*. From a spiritual perspective, it is regarded as highly auspicious and holy; during this time, the atmosphere is imbued with the fervor of devotion to Shiva.

**Four Special Mondays in Sawan This Year**
Pandit Manotpal Jha from Purnia stated that there will be four *Somvari* (Monday) fasts during the month of Sawan this year. The first Monday falls on August 3, which also marks the festival of *Nag Panchami*. This day also marks the beginning of the *Madhushravani* puja for newlywed women. The second Monday falls on August 10, the third on August 17, and the fourth and final Monday of Sawan will be on August 24. These four Mondays hold special significance for pleasing Lord Bholenath.

**Sawan Grants Desired Wishes: Religious Beliefs**
According to religious beliefs, the month of Sawan symbolizes the sacred union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Goddess Parvati performed severe penance for years to attain Lord Shiva as her husband; it was during this period that Lord Shiva accepted her as his consort (*Ardhangini*). It is believed that if one worships Mahadev with a sincere heart during Sawan, He fulfills all wishes, bringing happiness and prosperity into one's life.
