After several consecutive days of good rainfall in Uttar Pradesh, the pace of the monsoon is set to slow down over the next three days. The Meteorological Department states that rainfall activity across the state will remain subdued for three days starting Thursday. However, scattered showers may continue in parts of Bundelkhand and southern Uttar Pradesh.

On Wednesday, the highest rainfall in the state—72 mm—was recorded in Mau (Purvanchal). Additionally, 70 mm of rain was recorded in Lalitpur, 58 mm in Sonbhadra, and 41.5 mm in Prayagraj.

Atul Kumar Singh, a senior scientist at the Regional Meteorological Centre, explained that the low-pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal has weakened. Furthermore, the monsoon trough has shifted southward. Consequently, monsoon activity in the state will remain weak between July 23 and July 25. The Meteorological Department has not issued any heavy rainfall warnings for this period. However, significant rainfall is likely in several parts of the state on July 26 and 27.

**Directive to Disseminate Weather Warnings**
Principal Secretary (Revenue) Aparna U. has issued instructions for the timely and widespread dissemination of weather forecasts and 'nowcast' alerts—particularly critical warnings like 'Red Alerts' and 'Orange Alerts'—to minimize the impact of natural disasters. Media cooperation will also be enlisted for this purpose.

**Rainfall to Slow Down; Humidity to Rise Again**
The spell of good monsoon rains that the capital has experienced over the past few days is likely to pause for now. According to the Meteorological Department, monsoon activity in Lucknow will remain subdued for the next three days, from July 23 to July 25. Reduced rainfall and bright sunshine could lead to a resurgence of uncomfortable, humid heat. Daytime temperatures are expected to rise by approximately three degrees Celsius during this period.

Atul Kumar Singh, a senior scientist at the Regional Meteorological Centre, noted that the low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal has weakened, and the monsoon trough has shifted southward. For this reason, rainfall activity in the capital and surrounding areas will remain subdued between July 23 and 25.

On Wednesday, the city's maximum temperature rose by one degree to 33.3°C, while the minimum temperature also increased by 1.3 degrees to 26.3°C. The Meteorological Department forecasts a further rise in temperature over the next three days, which will lead to increased humidity.
