Doctor's Tips to Avoid Health Issues: During summer vacations, most people plan to travel. To this end, they pack meticulously and plan for maximum enjoyment during their trip. While people often make arrangements for clothes, tickets, and hotels, they frequently forget to pack essential health-related items. Intense sunlight, dehydration, and changes in weather conditions increase the risk of falling ill. In such situations, if you pack a few essential items in your bag beforehand, you can easily avoid minor health issues that may arise during your journey.

Dr. Sonia Rawat, Director of the Department of Preventive Health and Wellness at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi, advises that you must include a packet of ORS (Oral Rehydration Salts) in your bag before leaving home. In the summer, the body rapidly loses water and electrolytes, which can lead to weakness and dizziness. An ORS solution immediately replenishes the body's depleted water and essential minerals; therefore, you should always carry it with you while traveling. Additionally, be sure to pack paracetamol tablets in your bag. Changes in weather or fatigue can sometimes trigger headaches or mild fevers. In such instances, paracetamol is considered a basic and safe medication that helps provide immediate relief.
The doctor further explained that sunscreen is essential for protecting your skin from damage while spending time outdoors in strong sunlight. It safeguards against sunburn, tanning, and general skin damage. This is particularly important if you anticipate spending extended periods in the sun—in which case, you must not forget to carry sunscreen. Furthermore, make it a point to pack a water bottle in your bag before leaving home. Staying hydrated is crucial while traveling. Always carry a bottle of clean water with you and drink from it at regular intervals to prevent dehydration. If possible, carry two or three bottles of water; this will eliminate the need to purchase water from outside sources.

According to experts, you should also make sure to carry hand sanitizer with you while traveling. During travel, a lack of hygiene in various places can increase the risk of infection. In such situations, a sanitizer proves invaluable for keeping your hands clean and protecting you from illnesses. During summer vacations, it is just as important to look after your health as it is to have fun. By packing these simple items in your bag, you can avoid many health issues that may arise during your journey and fully enjoy your vacation.
