In Hinduism, the banana tree is considered highly auspicious and is believed to be the abode of deities. This tree shares a deep connection with Lord Vishnu and Lord Brihaspati (the Guru of the Gods). Consequently, Vastu Shastra attaches great importance to the banana plant. While many people plant banana trees at home, they often lack the correct information regarding the appropriate location for planting them according to Vastu principles.

Let us explore which direction and location are considered suitable for planting a banana tree at home according to Vastu.
**In which direction should the banana tree be planted?**
According to Vastu beliefs, planting a banana tree in the North-East direction—known as the *Ishan Kon*—is considered auspicious. It should be planted at some distance from the main entrance of the house. Although many households plant banana trees in pots or within the central courtyard, Vastu does not consider this ideal; the tree should ideally be planted in an open space. The North-East direction is believed to be favorable for positive energy and religious activities. However, if the courtyard is open and situated away from the main living areas, you may plant the banana tree there.
**Do not plant it directly in front of the main entrance**
Vastu advises against planting the banana tree directly in front of the main entrance. It is believed that doing so can create an obstruction at the entryway and hinder the flow of positive energy into the home. Therefore, it is considered better to keep the path in front of the main entrance clear.
**Avoid planting it on the roof**
Vastu principles also deem it unsuitable to plant a banana tree on the roof. Banana trees have strong roots and are quite heavy. Placing heavy objects on the roof is generally discouraged, as it is believed to cause mental stress among the residents.
**Maintain the cleanliness of the plant**
Do not allow dirt, dried leaves, or decaying waste to accumulate around the banana plant. Periodically remove dried leaves and ensure the plant receives proper care. According to religious beliefs, a plant placed in a clean and tidy spot is considered particularly auspicious.
Therefore, in accordance with Vastu principles, planting a banana tree in an open and clean area in the northeast corner is considered auspicious.
