Security is the top priority during air travel. Strict security rules are in place at all Indian airports, and every passenger is required to follow them. However, people often pack items in their hand luggage in haste or due to a lack of information, which are then removed or confiscated during security checks.

This not only wastes time but also increases the risk of missing your flight. If you are also preparing for a trip, here's what you should not carry in your hand luggage when checking in at Indian airports.
Liquids exceeding 100ml
Carrying more than 100ml of liquid in hand luggage is prohibited. This includes items like water, juice, perfume, creams, lotions, and gels. If you have more than 100ml of liquid, pack it in your checked baggage. Only containers of up to 100ml are allowed in hand luggage.
Lighters or Matches
For security reasons, carrying lighters or matches in hand luggage is not permitted. These are considered flammable items that can pose a threat to flight safety. It's best to leave them at home.
Knives, Scissors, and Sharp Objects
Knives, scissors, blades, nail cutters, or any kind of sharp object are strictly prohibited in hand luggage. These are considered potential weapons. If you need to carry any such item, pack it in your checked baggage.
Power Banks exceeding 160Wh
Power banks have become essential for every traveler these days, but there is a limit to their capacity. Power banks with a capacity exceeding 160Wh are not allowed in hand luggage. Also, power banks cannot be placed in checked baggage. Therefore, be sure to check the capacity when purchasing one.
Sporting and Fitness Gear
Cricket bats, hockey sticks, golf clubs, dumbbells, or other fitness gear are not allowed in hand luggage. These items are considered dangerous from a security perspective. Always pack these items in your checked baggage.
Tools
Tools such as screwdrivers, hammers, wrenches, and drill machines cannot be carried in hand luggage. They are heavy and sharp, so they must be placed in checked baggage.
Sprays
Deodorant, hairspray, paint spray, or any type of aerosol spray is prohibited in hand luggage, especially in large quantities. Due to their flammability, they are considered a safety risk.

E-cigarettes and Vapes
E-cigarettes and vapes are prohibited at the airport. Therefore, it is illegal to carry them in either hand luggage or checked baggage. Getting caught can result in fines or legal action.
