Amla Navami 2025: Amla Navami, also known as Akshaya Navami, is celebrated every year on the ninth day of the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase) of the month of Kartik. This year, Amla Navami will be celebrated on Friday, October 31, 2025. It is believed that Lord Vishnu resides in the Amla tree on this day, and worshipping it with devotion leads to the attainment of eternal virtue.

Amla is described in ancient texts as a divine and nectar-like fruit. It is described in the Padma Purana and Skanda Purana. It is said that Amla was born from the tears of Lord Brahma, and it also originated from the drops of nectar that fell from the Amrit Kalash during the churning of the ocean. From Kartik Navami to Kartik Purnima, Lord Vishnu resides in the Amla tree. Anyone who worships Amla with devotion during this period attains Vishnulok.

According to the legend of Goddess Lakshmi, she pleased Lord Vishnu and Shiva by worshipping the Amla tree. Bathing in it, consuming it, and donating it bring eternal virtue. The Charaka Samhita mentions that Maharishi Chyavana attained rejuvenation by consuming Amla. According to Ayurveda, Amla enhances immunity and provides longevity.

Amla Navami is also a festival of charity, prosperity, and environmental protection. Regular consumption enhances health, beauty, and energy. Bathe in the morning and wear clean clothes. Worship Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. Offer yellow flowers, basil leaves, a lamp, incense, and naivedya. Recite the mantra "Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevay." Circumambulate the Amla tree and offer water. Worship with turmeric, roli, flowers, and a lamp. Give food and donations to the poor and Brahmins.

Mythological Story: According to the legend, Goddess Lakshmi once asked Lord Vishnu, "O Lord! Which tree is the one in which I reside and whose worship bestows blessings?" In response to Goddess Lakshmi's question, Lord Vishnu replied that a devotee who worships the Amla tree on the ninth day of the month of Kartik will receive eternal fruit through your blessings. This means that his virtue will not be wasted and he will receive the benefits of happiness, prosperity, and longevity in life." Since then, people worship the Amla tree on Kartik Shukla Navami.

The worship of the Amla tree holds special significance in the scriptures. Legend has it that bathing with Amla, consuming Amla, and donating Amla on this day bestows eternal virtue.
