In Hinduism, the *Ekadashi* *Tithi* (lunar day) holds special significance; however, the first *Ekadashi* of the month of *Jyeshtha*—known as *Apara Ekadashi* (Apara Ekadashi 2026)—is considered an exceptionally fruitful and meritorious occasion. According to religious beliefs, worshipping Lord Vishnu and observing a fast on this day invites happiness, peace, and prosperity into one's life. It is said that observing the *Apara Ekadashi* fast not only grants liberation from sins but is also believed to be instrumental in alleviating financial difficulties and mental stress.

According to the Vedic *Panchang* (almanac), this year, the *Ekadashi Tithi* of the *Krishna Paksha* (waning phase of the moon) in the month of *Jyeshtha* will commence on May 12th at approximately 2:52 PM and conclude the following day, May 13th, at approximately 1:29 PM. Based on the *Udayatithi* (the lunar day prevailing at sunrise), the *Apara Ekadashi* fast will be observed on May 13th. On this day, the auspicious time (*Shubh Muhurat*) for worshipping Lord Vishnu will extend from approximately 5:32 AM to 8:55 AM.
**Tulsi and the Color Yellow Are Dear to Lord Vishnu**
Astrologer Akhilesh Pandey explains that, according to religious scriptures, the day of *Apara Ekadashi* is considered particularly special for attracting positive energy and attaining auspicious results. It is believed that even small rituals performed with faith and devotion on this day can yield profound effects. It is considered auspicious to wake up early in the morning, take a bath, and wear clean, light-colored clothing. Thereafter, one should worship Lord Vishnu and offer Him yellow flowers, *Tulsi* (Holy Basil) leaves, and fruits. *Tulsi* is considered extremely dear to Lord Vishnu; consequently, any worship performed without *Tulsi* is deemed incomplete. During the worship, one should chant the mantra "Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya"; this practice brings peace to the mind and helps maintain a positive atmosphere within the home.
**A Ghee Lamp Brings Prosperity**
Lighting a lamp filled with *ghee* (clarified butter) during the evening hours on *Apara Ekadashi* is considered highly auspicious. It is believed that this practice invites happiness and prosperity into the home while dispelling negativity. Many devotees also recite the *Vishnu Sahasranama* (the thousand names of Lord Vishnu) on this day. According to religious belief, the recitation of the *Sahasranama* helps alleviate obstacles currently present in an individual's life and boosts self-confidence. If reciting the entire text is not feasible, simply remembering the names of Lord Vishnu or performing a simple act of worship is also considered beneficial.

**Charity and Good Deeds Yield Manifold Rewards**
This day is also ascribed special significance regarding acts of charity and benevolence. Donating food, clothing, or grains to the needy is considered auspicious. It is said that acts of charity performed on *Apara Ekadashi* yield manifold rewards. In particular, helping the poor and the destitute pleases Lord Vishnu and ensures that happiness and prosperity endure in one's life. Many devotees feed green fodder to cows and scatter grains for birds on this day. According to religious beliefs, even these small acts are considered to be highly meritorious.
