Health Care Tips: In the Chhatarpur district, the rising temperatures have currently triggered a severe wave of heatstroke. People are adopting various measures to protect themselves from it. However, according to health experts, there are specific tips one can follow to find relief if one does suffer from heatstroke. Furthermore, what are the effective ways to prevent heatstroke? Let's find out from the experts.

BMO Dr. Jitendra Verma explains that the month of April has begun. Along with the rising temperatures in the district, hot winds are also blowing. Under these conditions, the risk of heatstroke increases significantly. Every year, the district records fatalities caused by heatstroke. However, there are effective preventive measures available that, if adopted, can successfully protect individuals from suffering from heatstroke.

**How to Protect Yourself from Heatstroke**
The doctor advises that, first and foremost, you should try to avoid direct exposure to sunlight. Additionally, wear clothing that covers your entire body. Keep drinking one glass of water at intervals of every 30 minutes to one hour. Do not gulp down a large quantity of water all at once, only when you feel thirsty; instead, drink water regularly. If you are outdoors, continue to drink water every 30 minutes to an hour. If you experience symptoms such as physical weakness or fever, you should immediately visit a hospital.

**Prevent Dehydration**
The doctor emphasizes that the most effective way to prevent heatstroke is to ensure that the body does not become dehydrated. If your urine appears yellow, it is a symptom of dehydration. In such a state, one becomes more susceptible to heatstroke. When heatstroke strikes, the body's internal temperature rises, leading to a fever. Body aches also begin to set in. If you observe these symptoms, it indicates that you have fallen victim to heatstroke.

**Lower Your Body Temperature**
The doctor advises that if you are suffering from heatstroke, your primary objective should be to lower your body's temperature. To achieve this, you can wipe your body down with a damp cloth; using a wet cloth is an effective way to reduce body heat. Additionally, you can use ice packs to help lower your body temperature. You can wrap ice in a cloth and apply it to various parts of your body to provide cooling relief. This method helps in effectively bringing down the body's internal temperature.

Hospital Admission for Critical Cases
Doctors advise that in cases of heatstroke-induced fever, one may take the fever-reducing medication Paracetamol. However, if the fever persists despite these measures, the patient should be taken to a hospital. This is because if the patient is unable to even consume water, these remedies will be ineffective in rehydrating the body.
