The grand festival of Chaitra Navratri, a celebration dedicated to the worship of the Divine Feminine, is about to begin. According to the scriptures, the manner of the Goddess's arrival and departure during this auspicious festival holds special significance; it is also believed to serve as an omen for the future. According to the Vedic Hindu almanac, this year, Mother Durga will arrive riding upon a *Doli* (palanquin) during *Chaitra Navratri*, while her departure will take place atop an elephant—signs that are not considered auspicious for India.

Pandit Subhash Pandey, a professor in the Department of Astrology at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), stated that *Chaitra Navratri* commences on March 19 and will conclude on March 27. The *Dashami Tithi* (the tenth lunar day) also begins on this very day, shortly after 12:00 PM. Consequently, the breaking of the fast (*Parana*) and the ceremonial farewell to the Goddess will both take place on this same day. Pandit Subhash Pandey noted that, according to the scriptures, the Goddess's arrival on a *Doli* is not considered auspicious. This may lead to a state of unrest and turmoil within the country. Furthermore, people are likely to face distress due to economic hardships. In addition to these issues, the nation may encounter various other challenges.
Nature's Fierce Aspect Will Be Witnessed
Meanwhile, *Navratri* concludes on a Friday. This signifies that the Goddess's departure this time will occur atop a *Gaj* (elephant). The Goddess's departure on an elephant is also believed to manifest the fierce and formidable aspect of nature, thereby posing a risk of unforeseen calamities befalling both the nation and the world at large. Pandit Subhash Pandey explained that the *Markandeya Purana* mentions that if the Goddess is worshipped during *Navratri* with complete faith, devotion, and purity, the adverse effects of these inauspicious omens can be mitigated.

The Genesis of Creation Began on This Very Day
The creation of the universe is believed to have commenced on the *Chaitra Shukla Pratipada Tithi* (the first lunar day of the bright fortnight of the month of *Chaitra*). This very day also marks the beginning of the Hindu New Year. According to scriptural narratives—specifically the *Devi Purana*—prior to the inception of creation, the entire universe was enveloped in darkness. It was at that moment that the desire to create the universe arose within the mind of *Adi Shakti* (the Primordial Power), Mother Durga. She presented this proposal to Lord Shiva and Lord Brahma. It was only after receiving her divine command that Lord Brahma commenced the process of creation.
