Chaitra Navratri has commenced. During these nine days, special prayers and rituals are offered to *Mata Rani* (the Divine Mother). According to religious beliefs, spiritual practices undertaken during this period are considered to yield results swiftly. The *Ashtami* (eighth) and *Navami* (ninth) *Tithis* (lunar days) of Navratri are considered to be of exceptional significance.

The *Ashtami Tithi* is known as *Maha Ashtami*, and the worship of Goddess Durga on this day is accorded immense importance. It is believed that performing worship on this day with deep faith and strict adherence to prescribed rituals helps resolve various crises in life and ushers in happiness and prosperity to the home. Furthermore, observing certain specific rituals on the day of Navratri's *Ashtami* ensures the continued special grace of *Mata Rani* throughout the entire year and aids in the alleviation of difficulties.
Highly Auspicious Practices
According to Pandit Kalki Ram, an astrologer from Ayodhya, this year's *Maha Ashtami* of Chaitra Navratri falls under a particularly auspicious celestial alignment. On the day of *Ashtami*, one should rise early during the *Brahma Muhurat* (the pre-dawn auspicious hour), take a ritual bath, and—after installing an image or *Yantra* (sacred geometric diagram) of Goddess Jagadamba in the home's prayer altar—commence the worship in accordance with established rituals. Chanting the *Maha Mantras* (great incantations) of Goddess Durga during the worship is considered highly auspicious; this practice bestows mental peace, positive energy, and spiritual strength.
According to Pandit Kalki Ram, one should offer *Solah Shringar* (the sixteen traditional adornments) to *Mata Rani* during the evening hours. Offering a water-filled coconut and nine cloves (*Laung*) is considered particularly fruitful. While offering the cloves, one should simultaneously chant any of the mantras dedicated to *Mata Rani*. Religious belief holds that performing these acts helps resolve ongoing obstacles in life, eliminates financial crises, and eradicates poverty.

According to the astrologer, *Kanya Pujan* (the worship of young girls) also holds special significance on *Maha Ashtami*. Worshipping young girls—revering them as embodiments of Goddess Durga—attracts the special grace of the Divine Mother. Devotees who observe the nine days of Navratri with faith, self-discipline, and strict adherence to rituals are blessed with auspicious results, and peace and harmony prevail within their families.
