Chaitra Navratri: If you want the blessings of Maa Durga during Navratri, then do not make these mistakes..

Chaitra Navratri 2026: In Sanatan Dharma, the grand festival of ‘Chaitra Navratri’—dedicated to the worship of *Shakti* (the Divine Feminine)—holds immense spiritual significance. During these nine days, devotees not only worship the various manifestations of the Goddess but also observe rigorous fasting and practice self-discipline. However, did you know that mere rituals and worship are not sufficient? According to Pandit Sanjay Upadhyay, a renowned astrologer from Kashi, maintaining discipline in one's behavior, dietary habits, and lifestyle is equally crucial during Navratri. Let us explore the scripturally prescribed guidelines that, if followed, can help you attain good health and the blessings of the Divine Mother.

Keep Anger Under Control
During the nine days of Navratri, one should strive to keep the mind calm and composed. It is essential to exercise control over one's anger during this period. Furthermore, one must refrain from speaking harsh words to anyone or using abusive language during these nine days.

Avoid *Tamasic* (Heavy/Stimulating) Food
Throughout the nine days of Navratri, one should consume only pure and *Sattvic* (wholesome) food. During this time, one must abstain from garlic and onions, as well as avoid the consumption of meat and alcohol; otherwise, one's spiritual practice (*Sadhana*) is considered incomplete.

Practice Celibacy (*Brahmacharya*)
During the nine days of Navratri, one should observe the vow of celibacy (*Brahmacharya*). If you are observing a fast during this period, you should consume only fruits (*Phalahar*). By doing so, the Goddess bestows upon the individual the blessing of good health.

Do Not Leave the House Unattended
If you have performed the *Kalash Sthapana* (ritual installation of the sacred pot) and worship of the Goddess at your home during Navratri, you must not leave your house unattended for the entire duration of the nine days. Failure to observe this rule may displease the Goddess, and the worship is considered incomplete.

Refrain from Haircuts and Shaving
During the nine days of Navratri, one should refrain from getting haircuts or shaving. Additionally, one should avoid trimming nails during this period, as this practice is prohibited in the scriptures and is believed to potentially displease the Goddess.
