Chauhan: Ajay Devgn's film 'Chauhan' mired in controversy? Kshatriya Parishad expresses displeasure..

Ajay Devgn's film 'Chauhan' was officially announced recently, and a teaser was also released. The film is being directed by Neeraj Yadav. However, the project has become embroiled in controversy following the teaser's release; the Kshatriya Parishad has raised objections regarding certain dialogues and the portrayal of Rajput history within the teaser.

**What did the Kshatriya Parishad say?**
The Kshatriya Parishad has opposed the use of Rajput history as a tool. The organization asserts that such attempts are driven by electoral or ideological motives. In a statement released on social media, the organization described it as highly unfortunate that Rajput identity is once again being dragged into political narratives.

**Statement released on social media**
The Kshatriya Parishad stated its X (formerly Twitter) account. It reads: "We strongly condemn the attempt to use the name of the 'Chauhan' clan for the sake of current communal politics in Neeraj Yadav and Ajay Devgn's upcoming film 'Chauhan'. Rajput history is not a political weapon. The legacy of the Chauhans is a part of Rajput history, not of electoral narratives or controversies manufactured by outsiders. We reject every attempt to weaponize Rajput identity for ideological purposes."

**Organization presents its case with examples**
The organization stated that such narratives betray an ignorance of Indian history and that the past of the Indian subcontinent cannot be reduced to simple communal divisions. The Kshatriya Parishad also cited instances where Afghans and Rajputs fought alongside each other. The organization noted, "Mahmud Lodi fought under the leadership of Maharana Sanga in the Battle of Khanwa. Hakim Khan Sur commanded a contingent of Maharana Pratap's army at Haldighati. Farid Khan—who later became Sher Shah Suri—was associated with military service under Raja Raisal Shekhawat during his early days, and Maharaja Vikramaditya Tomar was martyred while fighting alongside the Lodi army in the First Battle of Panipat."

Appeal made to the filmmakers
The film features a dialogue: "Tell the Pathans that Chauhan is coming." Objections are being raised regarding this line. The film is set against the backdrop of Kashmir, and the dialogue refers to the attempt to label Kashmiris as Pathans; this has sparked opposition to the film. In its appeal, the council stated, "Historical moments should not be turned into a vehicle for communal violence. We urge political figures and filmmakers to handle India's history responsibly. Respect historical complexities rather than exploiting Rajput heritage for divisive political debates."
