Chhathi Maiya/Varanasi: The grand festival of Chhath is visible across the country. This grand festival begins with 'Nahay Khaye'. This great festival of sun worship begins on October 25th. On this grand festival of Chhath, Chhathi Maiya is worshipped along with Lord Surya. Who is Chhathi Maiya? What is her connection with Lord Surya? Let's find out from an astrologer from Kashi. According to the Puranas, Chhathi Maiya is the goddess of nature. At the time of creation, nature divided itself into six parts. This sixth part is Chhathi Maiya, who is worshipped on the sixth day of the Shukla Paksha (bright fortnight) of the month of Kartik. In some places, she is also considered the mental daughter of the Supreme Lord Brahma. Furthermore, she is also called the sister of Lord Surya.

She protects them
It is believed that Chhathi Maiya protects newborn babies for six months. Therefore, mothers worship and offer water to their sons on the great festival of Chhath for their well-being. Pandit Subhash Pandey, professor in the Department of Astrology at BHU, explains that Shashthi Tithi is considered feminine in the scriptures. Therefore, this puja was associated with Chhath with the name of Chhathi Maiya.

The fast is observed with this wish.
The great festival of Chhath lasts for four days. Women across the country observe this fast to attain wealth, prosperity, and happiness, along with the birth of a child. This fast is the most difficult, consisting of a 36-hour fast without water. This difficult fast begins after consuming rice and jaggery pudding on Kharna. On the first day, water is offered to the setting sun, and on the last day, the fast is concluded by offering water to the rising sun. The spectacular Chhath festival is observed on this day in many states, including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi.
