Although Akshaye Khanna garnered immense praise for his portrayal of the character 'Rahman Dacoit' in *Dhurandhar*, this role was originally intended for someone else. In fact, three other actors had declined the part before it eventually made its way to Akshaye Khanna. The film's casting director, Mukesh Chhabra, revealed that the role had indeed been rejected before reaching Akshaye. He stated, "One actor was from the South Indian film industry, while the other two were from Bollywood. They offered me very peculiar justifications. They argued, 'This is an ensemble cast... ultimately, this is Ranveer's film.'"

According to *Bollywood Hungama*, Mukesh Chhabra declined to disclose the names of these actors. He expressed regret over the situation, noting that casting decisions are typically made after careful deliberation. However, director Aditya Dhar remained completely confident in his vision and expressed no concern regarding the matter.
Following these initial rejections, Mukesh Chhabra offered the role of Rahman Dacoit to Akshaye Khanna. Upon hearing the story, Akshaye immediately hailed it as a brilliant script and accepted the role within just one day. Mukesh remarked, "He makes decisions from the heart." Praising Akshaye Khanna, he added that the actor chose to trust his own judgment rather than relying on external opinions.

Although the character of Rahman meets his demise within *Dhurandhar*, audiences felt his absence keenly in the film's sequel, *Dhurandhar: The Revenge*.
