There is an immense craze among cinephiles for the films of Malayalam cinema's legendary actor, Mohanlal. For a long time, fans have been eagerly awaiting his most anticipated movie, *Drishyam 3*—a film whose previous two installments completely redefined the suspense-thriller genre within the cinematic world.
A few days ago, the release date for *Drishyam 3* was announced; however, that schedule has now changed. Consequently, Malayalam cinema's *Drishyam 3* will now hit the big screen in a different month than the originally scheduled April.
Drishyam 3 Release Date Pushed Back
There is considerable excitement among fans regarding Director Jeethu Joseph's *Drishyam 3*, and they appeared eager for the film's release on April 2nd. However, it seems that cinephiles will now have to wait a little longer for *Drishyam 3*. In fact, on Monday, Mohanlal himself shared crucial information regarding the change in *Drishyam 3*'s release date via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle.
According to Mohanlal's tweet, *Drishyam 3* will now be released in theaters worldwide on May 21, 2026. As a result, the return of his character, George Kutty, in the film will now take place in the month of May rather than April. It is worth noting that *Drishyam 3* is a murder-mystery thriller, featuring a level of suspense in its storyline that was not witnessed even in the first two installments.
This factor has generated significant hype surrounding *Drishyam 3*. It is also worth mentioning that following Mohanlal's *Drishyam 3*, the film will subsequently be released in Hindi, starring Ajay Devgn. The release date for the Bollywood adaptation of *Drishyam 3* is October 2, 2026.
Is *Dhurandhar 2* the Reason?
A debate has now erupted on social media regarding the change in the release date of the South Indian film *Drishyam 3*. Numerous users are claiming that the filmmakers altered *Drishyam 3*'s release date specifically to avoid a clash with Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh's upcoming film, *Dhurandhar: The Revenge*. This speculation stems from the fact that several other films have previously backed out of a theatrical face-off against *Dhurandhar 2*.
