In the Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh, a rare grass called Durva or Doob is found. It is found only in certain places. It is believed that offering this grass to Lord Ganesha relieves physical ailments. This grass is offered to Lord Ganesha. It is also offered to Gauri and Kalash. Pandit Nand Babu Shukla of Chhatarpur tells that Durva is different from other grasses. It is small in appearance and not particularly long. It is fine and thin. Durva is easily found in Chhatarpur.

He explains that this medicinal grass, called Durva or Doob, grows only in certain places, such as near wells. It can also be found on the banks of ponds. If you have Tulsi in your home, this small grass grows there in the winter.

This grass is invariably offered at weddings and other ceremonies where Lord Ganesha is worshipped. Durva is also offered on Gauri and the Kalash. Worship of Lord Ganesha is considered incomplete without Durva. Offering Durva to Lord Ganesha is mandatory.

Pandit Nand Babu explains that this grass is offered to Lord Ganesha to alleviate physical ailments. It can cure knee pain and hand pain. This is the primary quality of this grass. We offer flowers, sandalwood, rice, and perform aarti to Lord Ganesha, and by offering Durva, he relieves physical pain. It is a medicinal herb that relieves pain. In Chhatarpur district, people offer Durva to Lord Ganesha to alleviate physical ailments.
