EPFO Update: EPFO extended the deadline for UAN activation for the ELI scheme, know what is the last date..

If EPFO members want to take advantage of the ELI scheme, then they have to complete the work of UAN activation by March 15. The Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has once again extended the deadline for activating the Universal Account Number (UAN) and linking the bank account with Aadhaar to take advantage of the ELI scheme (Employment Linked Incentive Scheme). Now the last date for linking UAN with Aadhaar has been made March 15. This information has come to light from a circular issued by the Ministry of Labor and Employment on February 21.

Let us tell you that even before this, the deadline has been extended many times. Earlier the deadline was February 15, 2025. EPFO has appealed to all eligible members to complete this process on time.

Why is UAN activation necessary?

UAN activation is mandatory to access EPFO services online. UAN is a 12-digit number that EPFO gives to every salaried employee. The 12-digit UAN allows employees to withdraw their funds, check their balance, and update contact details.

EPFO's ELI Scheme

The ELI (Employment Linked Incentive) scheme was introduced by the Central Government in the Union Budget 2024. The scheme aims to increase employment opportunities in the country and encourage companies to hire new employees. This scheme is divided into three categories A, B, and C.

Under Scheme A, companies will get a subsidy of Rs 15,000 on appointing new graduates, which will be given in three installments.

Scheme B aims to promote employment, especially in the manufacturing sector. Under this, companies will get Rs 3,000 per employee per month for two years on new recruitments.

Scheme C will provide incentives to increase the workforce in different industries.

Linking a bank account with Aadhaar is necessary.

EPFO's ELI scheme promotes formal sector employment and ensures Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the bank account linked to the Aadhaar of the employees. To avail of the benefits of this scheme, the employees must activate their UAN and link their bank account with Aadhaar.

How to activate UAN online?

Universal Account Number (UAN) is a 12-digit unique number, which is given to every employee contributing to the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF). No matter how many jobs you change, your UAN remains the same. With its help, employees can easily track the PF contribution made during the job in different companies.

New EPF members can activate their UAN through the EPFO Member Service Portal:

The process of activating UAN is quite easy. For this, you can follow the steps given below.

Step 1- First of all go to the member portal of EPFO's official website.
