We use expensive serums, face washes, and countless other products to make our skin healthy and glowing, but did you know that the secret to radiant skin isn't in what you apply, but in the habits you avoid?

Often, we unknowingly do things that would make a dermatologist cringe. Whether it's popping a stubborn pimple on your face or the way you use your laptop, our small acts of carelessness can make our skin age prematurely. Let's learn about 5 such mistakes from dermatologist Dr. Lindsey Zubritsky.
Never Pop Pimples
Doctors call the area around the nose the 'danger triangle'. Popping pimples in this area can be very dangerous. The nerves in this area are directly connected to the brain. If you pop a pimple here, the infection can spread directly to the brain, which can be life-threatening. Besides, popping pimples leaves deep scars and pits that are very difficult to treat.
Never Sleep with Wet Hair
Often, out of laziness, we wash our hair at night and go to sleep with it wet. Dermatologists consider this a very bad habit. Wet hair is most vulnerable and breaks easily due to friction against the pillow. Additionally, the moisture increases the risk of fungal infections and dandruff on the scalp. Therefore, it is very important to dry your hair naturally or with cool air before going to sleep.
Never Place Your Laptop on Your Thighs
Do you work for hours with your laptop on your lap? Stop doing this immediately. The heat emitted from the laptop can damage your skin's complexion. Continuous exposure to heat can cause dark or red, net-like marks on the skin of your legs, which is medically known as 'Erythema Ab Igne'. Always use a stand or a table under your laptop.
Never use retinoids as a spot treatment.
People often apply retinol or retinoid cream to a pimple, treating it like a spot treatment, but dermatologists never recommend this. Retinoids are meant to regenerate all skin cells. If you apply it only to one spot, that area will become excessively dry and may experience irritation or peeling. It should always be applied in a thin layer to the entire face, as advised by a doctor.
Never get waxing done while using retinol.
If you are using retinol or retinoids in your skincare routine, getting your face waxed can be a big mistake.

These products make the top layer of your skin very sensitive. When hair is pulled out with hot wax, the top layer of skin often comes off with the wax, which can lead to deep wounds and burns. Therefore, it is essential to stop using retinol at least a week before waxing.
