Eye Checkup Frequency: After how many months should the eyes be checked? What is the doctor's opinion about this..

Tips for Eye Check-up: To keep the eyes healthy, it is necessary to get a checkup done from time to time. Eye problems are not detected, and gradually they keep increasing. This is the reason that by the time many people come to know about the eye disease, their vision has become very weak or they have lost their vision. There are many such eye diseases, which once occur, weaken the eyesight and later it cannot be completely cured even with treatment. Therefore, it is very important to get routine eye checkups.

Dr. Tushar Grover, Medical Director of Vision Eye Center, Siri Fort, New Delhi, told News18 that all people should get their eyes checked from time to time. Many times problems start arising in the eyes and they cannot even be detected. If eye problems are not treated in time, then the eyesight starts decreasing. Problems like cataract, glaucoma, retinal disease, and eye infection can be detected through eye examination. Eye checkups can also tell you whether your vision and focus are correct or not. People of all ages should get their eyes checked regularly. This can help in keeping the eyes healthy.

In how many months should the eyes be checked?

According to Dr. Grover, children should get their eyes checked for the first time at the age of 6 months. After this, when they are 3 years old, another checkup should be done. Apart from this, children should get their eyes checked every year after 6 years. Adults between 18 and 40 years should get their eyes checked once a year. However, if you feel any problems in the eyes, like blurred vision, headache, or pain in the eyes, then you should immediately contact the doctor. There is no special change in the eyes at this age, but regular checkup is necessary to ensure this.

According to experts, it is important to consult a doctor once a year for an eye checkup after 40 years. At this age, the risk of many types of eye diseases, such as cataract and glaucoma, increases. Apart from this, with increasing age, the risk of retinal problems such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD) can also increase. Regular checkups can detect these problems in time. Apart from this, if you already have any eye problems or someone in your family has eye diseases, then you should consult a doctor and get yourself examined every 3 to 6 months.

Consult a doctor immediately if you see these signs.
If you see any unusual symptoms in the eyes, you should get your eyes examined immediately. If you see symptoms like blurred vision or low vision, pain or burning in the eyes, sudden vision change, redness around or inside the eyes and persistent headache, contact a doctor immediately and get your eyes examined. Regular eye checkups not only help in catching vision-related problems in time, but also help in identifying signs of other health problems. The sooner eye problems are treated, the more effective it is.
