Chaitra Navratri 2026 Day 5: Today marks the fifth day of Chaitra Navratri. This day is dedicated to Goddess Skandamata. This manifestation of Goddess Durga bestows maternal love, strength, and salvation upon her devotees. Skandamata is the mother of Lord Kartikeya (Skanda); hence, she acquired this name. Worshipping her leads to the attainment of the joy of progeny and spiritual wisdom.

What is the Appearance of Skandamata? (Chaitra Navratri 2026 Day 5 Significance)
Skandamata is seated upon a lotus pedestal; for this reason, she is also known as *Padmasana* (the Lotus-Seated One). The Goddess possesses four arms. Lord Skanda is seated in her lap. Her lower right hand holds a lotus flower. Worshipping Skandamata alleviates all the sufferings of her devotees. Furthermore, it blesses them with the joy of having children.

Puja Method (Chaitra Navratri 2026 Day 5 Puja Rituals)
Wake up early in the morning and take a bath.
Wear red or yellow-colored clothes.
Install the idol or image of the Goddess at the place of worship.
Holding flowers and *Akshat* (unbroken rice grains) in your hands, take a solemn pledge (*Sankalp*) to observe the fast or perform the worship.
Bathe the idol of Mother Skandamata with holy Ganges water.
Offer a *Chunari* (sacred veil), *Roli* (red ceremonial powder), *Kumkum* (vermilion), *Akshat*, incense, a lighted lamp (*Deep*), fragrances, and the sixteen items of adornment (*Solah Shringar*) to the Mother Goddess.

Yellow flowers—particularly the lotus—are extremely dear to Skandamata; therefore, offer her a lotus flower or other yellow flowers.
Offer bananas and homemade sweets as *Bhog* (sacred food offering) to the Mother Goddess.

Chant the mantras dedicated to the Mother Goddess, and subsequently, recite the *Durga Saptashati*.

Finally, perform the *Aarti* (ritual lamp ceremony) of Skandamata and distribute the *Prasad* (blessed food) among everyone present.

Thereafter, seek forgiveness for any errors or omissions that may have occurred during the worship.
