Thalapathy Vijay’s much-awaited and controversial film, *Jan Nayakan*, has finally received approval from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The CBFC has granted the film an ‘A’ (Adults Only) certificate. However, details regarding which specific scenes or dialogues were altered remain unknown. Notably, the makers of *Jan Nayakan* had submitted the film to the CBFC for approval in December 2025, with a scheduled theatrical release of January 9, 2026.

Instead of issuing a certificate immediately, the CBFC referred *Jan Nayakan* to a ‘Revising Committee.’ This action was taken following complaints alleging that certain scenes in the film depicted religious sentiments and the armed forces in an objectionable manner. Consequently, the certification process stalled just days before the scheduled release.

After failing to secure CBFC approval, the producers, KVN Productions, approached the Madras High Court, citing significant financial losses due to the delay. They questioned how complaints could be lodged against a film that had not yet been screened publicly. They also informed the court that the film had already secured certification in over 25 international territories, including a ‘15’ rating from the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC).

**Supreme Court Rejected the Petition Filed by *Jan Nayakan* Makers**

Initially, a single-judge bench of the Madras High Court had directed the CBFC to grant certification to the film. However, the CBFC challenged that order before a division bench, which stayed the previous directive. Subsequently, the producers approached the Supreme Court seeking immediate relief. However, the Supreme Court refused to intervene and directed the makers to pursue their case in the Madras High Court.

‘Jana Nayakan’ Release Date
The makers of ‘Jana Nayakan’ have not yet announced an official release date; however, a post circulating on X claims that the film will hit theaters on July 24. The post read, “Finally! Our very own Thalapathy Vijay is all set to rock the big screen with ‘Jana Nayakan’. York Cinema will handle the release in Canada. Get ready for the action to unfold on screen starting July 24. Gear up for a massive theatrical celebration. Stay tuned for ticket details.”
