Quick School Tiffin Recipes: Preparing a tiffin for children every morning is often a challenge for parents. You have to juggle making breakfast, getting the child ready for school, and deciding what to pack in the tiffin—all at the same time. Children often get bored of the same old paratha or sandwich, and the tiffin comes back home uneaten. What you need are tiffin ideas that are delicious, quick to prepare, and appealing to children.

If you face this dilemma every morning, planning the tiffin menu for the entire week (Monday to Friday) in advance can make things much easier. You don't need to buy a vast array of ingredients for this; a variety of tiffin meals can be prepared using common household staples.
You can create different tiffin meals from Monday to Friday using everyday ingredients like paneer (cottage cheese), potatoes, poha (flattened rice), semolina (suji), and roti. These dishes can be adjusted in portion size according to your child's age, preferences, and nutritional needs.
Monday: Veg Paneer Roll
Start the week with a tiffin item that children can easily hold and eat. You can make a roll by filling a roti or paratha with paneer, finely chopped vegetables, and mild spices.
Cut the roll into smaller pieces before packing it in the tiffin. You can also include their favorite fruit.
Tip: To save time in the morning, you can chop the paneer and vegetables the night before and store them in the refrigerator.
Tuesday: Veg Poha
Poha is a quick and easy dish that works perfectly for a tiffin. Add carrots, peas, corn, or other vegetables your child enjoys.
If your child likes peanuts, you can add a few of those as well. However, select ingredients for young children based on their age and appetite.
Wednesday: Semolina (Sooji) Vegetable Chilla
A chilla made from semolina is a great option for a tiffin. Prepare the batter by mixing semolina with yogurt, water, and finely chopped vegetables.
Make the chilla small in size so the child can eat it easily. You can also pack some homemade mild chutney or yogurt along with it, provided the school allows it.
Thursday: Potato or Paneer Paratha Roll
If your child enjoys parathas, try packing them in a slightly different way. You can make a potato or paneer paratha and roll it up with some yogurt or lightly sautéed vegetables inside.
Wrap the roll securely in foil or food-safe wrap to prevent it from spilling or falling apart in the tiffin box.
Friday: Vegetable Sandwich
To keep things simple on the last day of the week, you can make a vegetable sandwich. Fill the bread with cucumber, tomato, paneer, corn, or any other filling your child prefers.
Cutting the sandwich into small triangles or bite-sized pieces makes it easier for the child to eat.
Things to keep in mind while packing the tiffin
Variety is just as important as taste when it comes to a child's tiffin. Try to include different food groups—such as grains, protein sources, vegetables, and fruits—on different days.

Be mindful of the weather and school timings when packing items that are heavily spiced or prone to spoiling quickly. If packing hot food, it is best to let it cool down slightly before placing it in a food-safe container.
Most importantly, consider your child's preferences. If your child dislikes a particular dish, instead of repeatedly packing it, try incorporating the same ingredients differently.
