You probably have a non-stick pan in your kitchen. This pan's lid often has a hole in the back. Do you know what its purpose is, and why it's there?

We commonly use pans and griddles to make things like dosas, rotis, chapatis, and puris. Pans and griddles have handles, as everyone knows. You may have noticed that there's a hole at the end of the pan's handle. Most people think this hole is only for hanging the pan or griddle, but it has another use that many people are unaware of.
The hole in the pan's handle is specifically designed for hanging it on a hook, rod, or wall. This saves space and makes it easier to find the pan. Many people keep their pans hanging in their kitchens using this hole.
If you wash your utensils and hang them upside down, the water dries quickly. This prevents water from accumulating in the utensil. The utensil dries faster, and there are no water stains. There's no moisture left, which prevents bad odors or rust.
Some frying pan handles have holes where you can rest a ladle or spoon while cooking, preventing oil or food from dripping and keeping the stovetop clean. However, this isn't the case with all pans; only certain types of griddles and frying pans have this hole.

This hole also slightly reduces the weight of the handle and its heat retention capacity. This means that when you hold the pan, the handle stays a little cooler. This makes cooking easier.
During the manufacturing process, this hole is also used for molding the handle, testing its hanging capabilities, and for quality control.
