Ganesh Chaturthi 2025 Puja Time: Ganesh Chaturthi is being celebrated on Wednesday, 27th August. By fasting on this day and worshiping Ganeshji with rituals, all the obstacles and hindrances in life are removed, and all the happiness is also attained. This day is considered to be the birthday of Vighnaharta Shri Ganesh, and Ganesh Utsav continues for 11 days. According to religious beliefs, fasting and worshiping Ganeshji on Ganesh Chaturthi brings wealth, wisdom, child happiness, marriage, and success in the field of work. But do you know why Ganeshji is worshiped and installed only in the afternoon? There are both classical and mythological bases behind it.

Why is Ganesh Puja done only in the afternoon?
The fast that is observed on the day of Ganesh Chaturthi is called the midday fast. According to the scriptures, it is considered best to worship Chaturthi Tithi between sunrise and noon (12 noon to 2 pm). Therefore, Ganeshji is worshiped and installed only in the afternoon. Midday is considered to be the stable and strong time of the Sun. Ganesha is considered to be the first god and the first to be worshipped; therefore, it is prescribed to worship him at the effective time of the Sun. This time is as fruitful as Abhijeet Muhurta.
He was born at noon
According to mythology, Lord Ganesha was born at noon, which is why worship done at this time is considered to be especially fruitful and worship of the birth time. To get rid of the defects and obstacles of the planets, the best time to worship Ganpati is said to be midday, because at this time the effect of the moon is stable and there is a positive effect on the intellect (planet Mercury). Therefore, establishing and worshipping Ganesha at noon is considered auspicious and fruitful.

Why is Ganesha worshipped only on Wednesday?
There is a mythological story about why Ganesha is worshipped only on Wednesday. According to the story, when Mother Parvati was making Ganesha from clay, at that time Lord Budhdev was present on Mount Kailash. When Budhdev saw the Vignaharta Ganapati, he was very happy and dedicated his day i.e., Wednesday to Ganeshji. This is the reason why worshipping Ganeshji strengthens the position of Mercury in the horoscope.
