People often place idols or pictures of Lord Ganesha at the main entrance of their homes for happiness, prosperity, and good fortune. However, according to Vastu Shastra and ancient scriptures, it is crucial to observe a specific precaution when placing a Ganesha idol at the main entrance; otherwise, it can lead to adverse consequences.

Lord Ganesha is benevolent, but a small mistake in his placement can bring negativity instead of positive energy. Therefore, when placing a Ganesha idol at the main entrance, the "back-to-back" rule must be followed.

The Connection Between Ganesha's Back and Poverty
According to mythological beliefs, different parts of Lord Ganesha's body are associated with different powers. The entire universe is contained within Ganesha's stomach, and knowledge resides in his forehead, but his back is believed to be the abode of 'poverty' (Alakshmi).

What are the Vastu Rules?
Vastu Shastra states that Ganesha's back should never face the inside of the house. If you place a Ganesha idol just outside the main entrance, his back will face the house. It is believed that doing so can invite poverty into the house and lead to financial difficulties.

The Correct Method: 'On Both Sides of the Doorway'
If you want to place a Ganesha idol at the main entrance, you should follow a specific rule according to Vastu:

Twin Idols: If you have placed an idol outside the door, place another Ganesha idol or picture in the same position on the inside of the door.

Back-to-Back: The backs of the idols on the inside and outside should be facing each other. This ensures that the deity's back is not visible inside the house, and the flow of happiness and prosperity remains uninterrupted.

Also, Keep These Things in Mind
The Importance of Gaze: Ganesha's gaze should always be directed towards the inside of the house so that his blessings remain upon the family members. Trunk direction: A Ganesh idol with its trunk turned to the left is always considered auspicious, especially when placed at the main entrance or inside the house, as it represents a calm and peaceful demeanor.

Cleanliness of the location:  Wherever you place the idol at the main entrance, ensure the area is kept clean. Do not keep shoes or slippers there.
